In a bid to enrich the experience of tourists visiting the historic places of Jhalawar, its district administration has launched a mobile application that acts as a one-stop solution for tourism needs. The app named LeZgo provides updated and authentic information on the tourist places. Nearly 12 places of Jhalawar including Gagron Fort, Sun Temple, Atishaya Temple, Buddhist caves of Kolvi and Vinayaka, Government Museum, Bhawani Natyashala and other famous tourist sites have been have been selected by the tourism department. Pictures, audio and video streams, cultural stories and historical backgrounds are among other contents provided by the application, to be launched by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje during her Jhalawar visit tomorrow.
How does the app work?
The app works on the iBecons and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. IoT is a device which is installed at tourists points and provides information to the tourist having the app in their smart phones. When the user comes in the range of IoT device, the contents of the app are downloaded automatically. The basic requirement is that the bluetooth and data connection of the user's device should be kept on. The app users do not need any guide as they receive the most authentic content related to the monument or the place.
The 12 places where IoT devices are installed so far are: Gagron Fort, Buddhist caves of Kolvi and Vinayaka, Chandrabhaga Temple, Surya Temple, Mau Borda, Chandkheri Digamber Jain Atishaya Temple, Mini Secretariat, Government Museum, Bhawani Natyashala, Bus Stand, and Herbal Garden.
The information will be available to the tourists in 12 different languages. Apart from the information about the place, the users will be able to know about the nearby Banks, ATMs, and public toilets as well through this app.
“A small Bluetooth-enabled hardware device, called iBeacon, has been set up at 12 tourist places in Jhalawar. When a tourist who has the lezgo app installed on his or her smartphone reaches a site with iBeacon, it automatically pairs itself with the tourist’s smartphone through Bluetooth. The linking will allow access to comprehensive information about the tourist spot” said deputy director, department of information and technology, Jhalawar, RS Bairwa.
District tourism officer Sajid Qureshi said “Many a time tourists find it difficult to get detailed information about a tourist spot. Also not every tourist site has guides. This app will help the over one lakh tourist (domestic and international) who come to Jhalawar every year.”
The app is being promoted by banners and hoardings on footfall zones like Railways, Bus stands, and other tourist spots. LeZgo smart tourism solution is already perational in various cities like Ajmer, Pushkar, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Barmer.
The app has been developed by Sohamsaa Systems Private Limited. It will soon have different other features. “Soon trivia features, loyalty points, travel bookings on flights, trains, buses, and cabs will also be available on the app,” Parag Prasad, chief executive officer, Sohamsaa Systems Private Limited said. "Not only this, the app will envisage tourist’s security as it sports an SOS function,” added Prasad.
Android mobile users can download the app for free from the Google Play Store.
