Rajasthan's Minister of State for Energy Pushpendra Singh said that 2 lakh agricultural connections will be given this year in the state. Singh informed that in the last four years, 1 lakh 93 thousand agricultural connections have been released and this year two lakh agricultural connections will be given. He said that for the farmers, the rate of 90 paise per unit has not been increased from 2001 to the year and the state government is bearing the burden of Rs 9 thousand crores annually on the increased rates. In the previous government, an average grant of Rs 1818 crores was being given.
Singh said that out of 44672 villages identified in the 2011 Census, 43199 habitats are revenue villages. All the populated revenue villages were electrified till 31 August 2017. He informed that in the state, there are 1,14,000 small fragmented structures, out of which 95 thousand steps have been electrified and the remaining 19 thousand electrification works are being done under Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana.
