Tijara Jain Temple is situated 110 kilometres (68 mi) from Delhi and 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Alwar on the Delhi-Alwar Highway. The place is a famous tirtha (pilgrimage site) for the Jains and is believed to be a place of miracles, which is why this great tourist attraction in Alwar is also known as an Atishaya Kshetra.
Dedicated to the eighth Jain Tirthankar, Chandra Prabhu, the temple was established after the main idol was recovered during an excavation on 16 August 1956. The white stone idol was retrieved from underground, reinforcing the belief that this place was once a Dehra, a place where Jain idols are worshipped. The 15 inches idol of Chandra Prabhu in Padmasana Mudra is mesmerizing and was installed on the 3rd day of Vishakha Shukla V.S 1554, as per the inscription.
Later another 8 inches black idol of Chandra Prabhu was discovered in the similar lotus position in the year 1972. This was found under the expert supervision of Pujya Acharya Nirmal Sagarji Maharaj. The place regained as a pilgrimage after both the idols were installed.
The temple is rectangular in shape which gives a beautiful look to its architecture with a sky-high pinnacle. The big hall inside has a capacity to hold 2000 persons at a time. The interiors were done beautifully with glass work and colorful paintings depicting the mythological stories. There is a strong belief that all the prayers done with true intensions were answered here and the ‘Kundli Dust’ even work like a remedy for all the sorrows and disease.
There is a Township in the name of Lord Chandraprabha as "Chandralok City" spread in more than 100 acre, on main road.
