Symposium at Jawahar Kala Kendra: Witness the Stalwarts of Textile and Fashion
As part of the ongoing textile exhibition that will continue till July 31 at Jawahar Kala Kendra, a symposium is being organized on 13th and 14th July 2018. The symposium is aimed at getting the visitors more interested in the ongoing textile exhibition.

As part of the ongoing textile exhibition that will continue till July 31 at Jawahar Kala Kendra, a symposium is being organized on 13th and 14th July 2018. The event will witness the participation of some of the well-known artists and renowned names of the textile and fashion industry. The symposium is aimed at getting the visitors more interested in the ongoing textile exhibition.
On 13th of July, there will be a curatorial walkthrough of the exhibition. Later, the Chairperson and Founder of Dastkar Ms. Laila Tyabji will deliver the keynote address at 6 pm. Dastkar is an Indian non-government organization that works for the promotion and revival of traditional crafts in India.
On 14th July, several panel discussions will be held on topics like ‘Towards Histories of Post Independence Indian Textiles’ and ‘Revival and Contemporarisation’. The panel will be representing some of the renowned dignitaries of the industry like Mr. David Abraham, Creative Director of Abraham & Thakore; Ms. Ritu Sethi, Founder Director of Craft Revival Trust; Ms. Gunjan Jain, Textile Designer at Vriksh, Ms. Aarti Kawlra, Anthropologist, and Educator, among others.
