Ragasthan 2018 - India's Craziest Desert Music Festival

Ragasthan, unique yet somewhat mercurial is Asia’s first desert camping festival rooted in the expansive dunes of the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Eclectic music, culture, tradition, collective participation and shared experiences make for the focal point of the festival bringing together life enthusiasts from the remotest corners of India to those spread across the world. A 360-degree scenic view of the horizon, spread out over the towering dunes of inner Thar, Ragasthan stretches a little over a square Kilometer and if rolling down 150 feet high dunes isn't enough, there is more to enthrall even the most subdued.

Over 50 artists, one artists’ village, a sociable camping space, a dozen film screenings under the open sky, bars and restaurants, art installations, morning yoga sessions and football on the softest playground have weaved their way into the itinerary paving way for uninhibited bliss.

HOW TO GET THERE

• By Road
  Jaisalmer is connected by road to every major city in India. While some roads run via Jodhpur, alternate routes are available from Bikaner and Barmer. Depending on the time you have at hand you can expect a smooth drive on some of the most scenic and smoothest highways in the country.
• By Air
  After much excitement and waiting – the Jaisalmer airport is finally open. Direct flights between New Delhi and Jaisalmer as well as Jaipur and Jaisalmer are already operational via SpiceJet. This means you could be back home if you’re from Delhi or Jaipur – within an hour or so. If you’re good with planning – you could time your connecting flight smartly if you’re travelling from other cities.
• By Rail
  There are direct trains to Jaisalmer from Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Uttarakhand. So there is little reason for you to complain about making it to the festival. If you’re coming from the south – you may have to take a train to Jodhpur and change from there. There are plenty of local trains that leave every hour from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer or from Jaipur for that matter as well.
