Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on March 8, the International Women’s Day, where he will inaugurate the pan-India expansion of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' programme from the existing 161 districts to 640 districts all over the country.
The day also marks the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's 65th Birthday.
The Prime Minister will interact with beneficiary mothers and girl children of the programme and distribute certificates to the best performing districts under the BBBP programme.
The flagship programme will give a fillip to the Government’s initiative to save and educate the girl child through an awareness and advocacy campaign, multi-sectoral action in select 161 districts.
According to a PMO release, Mr. Modi will launch National Nutrition Mission (NNM), another landmark initiative, from Jhunjhunu.
He will launch NNM-ICDS Common Application Software. The mission strives to reduce under-nutrition and low birth weight, bring down anemia among young children, women and adolescent girls and to reduce the prevalence of stunting among children.
The BBBP will now cover 640 districts (as per the 2011 census) in the country to bring about a deeper positive impact on child sex ratio.
