Jaipur: During the Maharana Pratap and Guru Vashishtha Award ceremony held in SMS Stadium on Monday, announcements were made to offer out-of-turn government jobs and pension to the sportspersons of Rajasthan.
During the ceremony, 41 sportspersons earned state’s greatest honor, in the field of sports- Maharana Pratap Award whereas 13 trainers were rewarded with Guru Vashishtha Award. On the occasion, 46 ‘Rising Stars’ awards were also distributed.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje conferred ‘Award of Excellence’ to Olympian Khetaram, Sapna Punia and Ranji team’s captain Pankaj Singh. She also rewarded 2016 Paralympics gold medalist Devendra Jhajhariya with ₹ 75 lakh.
After the distribution of prizes, she made announcements regarding a new pension scheme. Under the scheme, sportsperson in the state who are more than 60 years of age and comes under special category, or those who have represented the state at international level, shall be provided with pension. Furthermore, she also proclaimed Government’s proposal of the provision, under which sportspersons of the state shall be offered out-of-turn government jobs. With all these announcements, the conditions of sports sphere in Rajasthan are expected to witness unprecedented boost.
Apart from that, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also inaugurated stadium’s new Basketball arena, synthetic running track, cricket arena, tennis arena, and indoor badminton hall.
