Jaipur: Monark Sharma from Jaipur has been appointed to join US army as a scientist in AH-64E fighter helicopter unit in Texas.
Sharma was offered a package of ₹ 1.2 crore for the job, which he graciously accepted saying “I may not have got the opportunity to serve in the Indian armed force but all my moves in the US were intended to bring pride for my country. Here I am reaching out to my fellow Indian students to inspire them that anyone can attain success in life with sheer hard work” as was reported by TOI.
Sharma had done schooling from Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain School in Jaipur and engineering in Electronics and Communication from NIT Jaipur. In 2011, he participated in a NASA project Moon Baggi and won the first prize there. Next year, he again participated in the agency’s Luna Boat project, where his team won fifth position worldwide.
Witnessing the consecutive success of the genius, NASA offered him a job and a green card. Sharma was accepted as a junior research scientist at NASA in 2013, and since then he has been working in correspondence with US army. In 2016, he even won two prominent awards - Army Service Medal and an award in Safety Excellence.
As a scientist, Sharma will be managing various roles at the AH-64E combat helicopter unit in Texas. He will be involved in the processes of designing, inspecting, manufacturing and maintaining the fighter planes that are to be initiated in the US army.Presently, Sharma is conducting various leadership sessions across the nation to inspire students of different institutes.
