Machia Biological Park of Jodhpur got two more lions to its tally on Thursday when an Asiatic lioness RT gave birth to two cubs- one male and one female. However, the lioness is too weak to feed her cubs because of which the newly-born are being given milk from a feeding bottle. This is the fifth time in the last 2 and a half year that the lioness has given birth to cubs. So far the lioness has given birth to 11 cubs.
The biological park that contains many big cats from Asiatic lions to Bengal tigers and even leopards has currently got three other cubs apart from the two recently born cubs.
The lioness RT was brought to Machia biological Park from Junagarh of Gujarat in March 2016. Notably, the Gir forests of Gujarat happen to be the only place in India where the Asiatic lions are found.
Earlier in June 2016, RT had given birth to two pre-mature cubs but they couldn’t survive for more than a fortnight. Later, in October 2016, she gave birth two three cubs but two of them died while the remaining one had to be shifted to a hospital. The cub was named Kailash and now it has become the center of attraction in the park.
Currently, the staff of the park has taken full responsibility for saving the life of the two newly born cubs. The cubs are being given powdered milk in every four hours to ensure that they get enough nutrients to survive.
