Ajmer: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the largest interstate depot of the Ajmer Division at the Khemli station on Chittaurgarh-Udaipur section via video conferencing.
In the program organized in Delhi, Minister of State for Railways, Minister of State for Communication Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain were also present.
This largest container depot of the Ajmer Railway Board, with two 1200 meter railway lines, has been constructed at Khemli Station near Udaipur, which is spread over the area of 15 acres. An estimated cost of Rs. 33.53 crores has been spent on the construction of the depot and it took almost seven months for the construction to get completed.
After the formal inauguration, the operations have already been started at the depot. The presence of the large depot is going to boost businesses in the region tremendously by creating direct connection to the ports in Gujarat and in Southern India.
