Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is one of those places which are best for treating your eyes with the wonderful creation of nature. The sanctuary is rich with a wide variety of birds from inhabitants to the rare species. The sanctuary is heaven for the bird lovers and is ideal for tourists whore are fond of wildlife.
This flawless beauty of nature is located in the Rajsamand district in Rajasthan. The sanctuary is scattered over the area of 578 kilometer square (223 square miles) surrounding the magnificent Kumbhalgarh fortress. Extending across the Aravalli Range, the sanctuary covers the parts of districts Rajsamand. Pali and Udaipur.
The Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary has a rich diversity of wildlife. The main attractions are the leopards and the Panthers. The view of the chinkaras, the neelgais, and the four-horned antelopes is very common around the borders of the sanctuary. Other inhabitants of the sanctuary include sambhar, jackal, jungle cat, sloth bear, hyena and wild boar. Not to be missed the scientifically bred crocodiles in the lake.
Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary is the only sanctuary in Rajasthan having more than 40 wolves. The wolves here are quite active as compared to other sanctuaries in Rajasthan.
One can be awestruck with the sight of the avifauna life of this place. There are numerous different species in this sanctuary, out of which most commonly seen are the peacocks, doves and the shy and untrusting grey jungle fowl. Bulbul, grey pigeons, golden oriole, parakeets, red spur owls and white-breasted kingfisher are other jewels in the crown of the sanctuary.
The Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary also houses a wide variety of floral species which majorly includes the plants and trees having herbal qualities. The other notable floral species are Dhok, Churel, Khair, and Salar.
The horse safari and the foot tracking organized by the tour operators of the local area are being very popular these days. Adventurous camping let the tourists enjoy the thrilling experience of the true spirit of nature.
The Kumbhalgarh Fort and the lion safari are additional attractions for anyone visiting this place. The most favorable time to visit this place is from October to April. However, throughout the year, the weather remains mild or moderate for the fauna.
