Holi, is one of the most exuberant festival celebrated in India. Different districts celebrate this colorful festival in different ways. Some celebrate it by literally beating-and-shielding each other (lath-maar holi) and some by simply pouring one another with flower petals; none of the celebration, however, is as unique as that of Pushkar.
In Pushkar, people tear clothes of one another, without resorting to vulgarity, as part of holi celebrations. This Holi of Pushkar is famously known as the ‘Kapda-phad’ holi and attracts numerous people from across the globe with its strange exuberance.
The celebration started some five years back, and since then it has attracted large number of tourists from Europe and other countries.
The festival is celebrated under controlled environment. Cops are stationed at every nook and corner of the ground where the festivities take place. Usage of alcohol and any type of drug, too, is prohibited on the event.
