IPL 2018 - Match 43 - Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings against Cancer

The Rajasthan Royals will wear special pink jerseys for their encounter against Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The idea being donning the pink jerseys is to raise awareness about early cancer screening.

As a step towards spreading awareness, Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane along with his team-mates Heinrich Klaasen, Krishnappa Gowtham and Mahipal Lomror got themselves screened.

Rahane hopes for a cancer free society

"As a player I think this initiative is a small but crucial step towards a direction of cancer-free society and I hope that we perform to the best of our ability to raise as much awareness as we can," Rahane was quoted saying.

Jersey to have pink, teal and burgundy

The Rajasthan team will be doing this as a part of the Royals' Cancer Out campaign.

The Royals will wear jerseys which will have a blend of three colors- pink, teal, and burgundy.

The three colours on the jersey symbolize the common types of cancer- pink for breast cancer, burgundy for oral cancer and teal for cervical cancer.

Royals bat for cancer awareness

"Cancer cure chances are higher with early diagnosis. We are committed to delivering a message of early cancer screening and risk reduction. We aim to bring early cancer screening into a part of the routine medical check and facilitate the treatment." Ranjit Barthakur, Executive Chairman said.
