This event, based on initiative in terms of BSF Marathon, addressed triple goals which included Run for Martyrs, Run for Public Connect and Run for Unity.
The event comprised a 21km half marathon and 5km fun run, wherein the 21km half marathon saw participation by over 500 men and 50 women and the fun run had around 1,000 participants including foreigners. The participants included people from various departments, schools, colleges, universities, professional institutions, local people and foreign nationals who made this event, being held in memory of brave border men who sacrificed their lives for duty, a grand success.
IG (BSF) Anil Paliwal said that the BSF, as India's first line of defence, has been guarding Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders as well as discharging internal security duties and anti-Naxal duties under dynamic operational situations.
"Till date, more than 1,855 bravehearts have lost their lives in the line of duty. The sacrifice of these heroes should be remembered by the nation for all times to come. Keeping this in view and to motivate fellow countrymen, this BSF Half Marathon-2017 was conceptualised and organised with great zeal and enthusiasm," Paliwal said.
BWWA members, various sponsors of the event, Rajasthan Police, DCP (traffic), Jodhpur, also contributed immensely in the successful conduct of this event.
Thousands of participants from various clubs of Jodhpur, JNVU, Mahendra Finance, FDDI, sportspersons, RFS, Indian Air Force, Indian Army, CISF, IDBI Bank, NLU, Shaurya Academy, education department, schools, students, NCC, NIIFT, retired persons, BSF personnel and other government officials actively took part in this mega event.
